There is a new way to express yourself and all you need to do is upload your videos and pictures online. You could also posts blogs and articles which expresses your different kind of point of views.

Showing your personality online is the new way of doing it. No wonder Youtube became so popular because it is one of the best webhosting providers that allow its users to upload their videos through the web for other viewers to see. People can now know you intimately from your video presentations.

However, you tube is a web hosting that only features is limited to video streaming and nothing else. People who want to try other modes of expression need something more than videos and pictures.

There is no need to worry because there are a lot of webhosting providers that allows you to create your own webpage that would allow you to integrate various features into the system. You are no longer limited to video streaming because you can input any type of data you could ever want.

Unlike Youtube which functions only in a specific feature. Youtube website functions in this way because they are practically free and you do not to pay any fees necessary to post your videos. That is why the service is has its limit because it is used for free by millions of online users.

Being totally free has its disadvantage after all but if you want something that would provide you with various features and unlimited storage capability then acquiring a webhosting service that provides these kind of things is definitely what you are searching for.

There are numerous webhosting sites that allow you to upload and create your own personal homepage at your own will. They discarded all the stops and limits when you acquire their service. You are required to pay a little extra though. The service of most of the websites is not totally free.

There are other website hosting service that would enable you to do it for free but they do set a limit capacity but do not worry because it can range to tens or even hundreds of gigabytes. However, these websites has ads posted in your personal homepage though. Nonetheless, it is as efficient as any other web hosting providers when it comes to providing service to its members.

Having the best webhosting provider allows you to express yourself to the fullest without any limitation to your imagination. Knowing which kind of webhosting service you acquire is certainly up to you. It depends on your taste and needs. Our needs and likes may vary from one person to another.

Others like cheapest one they could get their hands on, while some would like to have the best features whatever it costs. Make sure that when you do sign up that you read the terms and conditions of using their website. It is only important to view the features available for you when you become a member. This will make you chose the best possible service provider out there without any regrets.

Free webhosting options

Setting up a free website is very easy once you have done all the research and found out where to get the best free webhosting companies. These free hosting companies offer you a choice of various templates that will allow you to set up your own website for personal or business needs. The way this works is that you will receive a sub domain on their server, so you can then make your website name.thehost.net for example. If you do want to have a specific website name without another company behind it, then you can also find many free domains being offered. This will allow you to have a co.tl or co.cc domain. The URL will just be forwarded to your free web sites.

Some web hosting companies will also offer a free webhosting services for a specified time if you register your domain with them. This is also a great opportunity that you can take advantage of and will be perfect if you have a specific look that you want to achieve but you don’t have the capital outlay just yet. Some of these offers will require an upfront payment however that you can claim back if you no longer want to use their services.

Setting up a free website on a free hosting site can be more restrictive as you will get site builder software with free templates to use to make your free web site. While these are easy to use most of the time, you do get some that are quite involved and where you will need to research a bit more about PHP scripts and adding link URLs etc.

You will have to do some searching on webhosting directories in order to find the perfect free webhosting company for your business or personal needs and depending on your experience and level of internet and scripting knowledge you can also choose from basic to advanced editors and site builders. Setting up a free website that offers all the same features of a paid hosting site is also possible if you find the right company, but you may be wondering how they make money. Well, they do this with advertising and generally you will get a free site, but it will have pop up or banner ads all over it. Some companies you will find don’t put any sort of advertising or banners on your site, but they might ask you to click or sign up for various offers during your sign up process and some may even sell your email address to 3rd parties as a form of advertising. Some of the web hosting services will also require that to receive your free web site you need to post on their forums every so often. This is why it is very important to read your terms of service and all the fine print there is before using certain free webhosting services to make sure that you know exactly what are you getting and what you have to do to take advantage of using free webhosting.

A dedicated hosting service is some kind of Internet hosting where you lease a whole server for yourself. You have the opportunity to control the security, bandwidth, and the space of the server. It’s common to find out a provider that will come out with the materials you will need as long as you keep using the company’s service.

How to pay less when hiring a hosting service provider?
You can try to negotiate a better offer with your supplier. For instance, you may ask them if they can provide a mark down whenever you pay for an entire year rather than paying every month. Monthly payments of this type of service commonly cost a couple of dollars per month. Besides if you pay for a whole year, most of the time you’ll get a reduction.

Consequences of paying for an entire year of service
There exist good and bad. The bad results about paying for an entire year is that sometimes you decide a low price company without first investigating about it. What if the dedicated hosting service supplier never switches their machinery and it becomes out-of-date. Or how about whenever the service provisioner just commenced to operate a couple months ago and for some reason they get out of business. Whenever this takes place you’ll loose lots of cash and time. Another thing that you have to be aware of is customer service.

Most of the people are all the time searching for ways to pay less money, and they end up forgetting about the most important thing, quality of the service. What you may do is look for some particular hosting providers and compare them against each other. A company that offers a dedicated hosting service is Godaddy. You can check their costs and in addition you can seek for a few additional hosting companies.

Besides, you need to go over their complaints, how their client service is, and what their rank in alexa.com is. As well, you can go over what other service users are saying about their service in forums. Another thing you should check for when you are trying to obtain a dedicated hosting service supplier is for special deals. For instance, Godaddy offers no start up charges.

Make sure you have an answer to every question listed before every time to check a hosting provider.

- How long has the company been operating?
- How is their customer service?
- What are others saying about the service?
- How is the price? Too good to be true? Too high?

Do you ever wonder if you can host multiple domains and sites on a single hosting account? Well, the answer is yes. This could be made possible by using one of the hosting features called “add-on domains.” Many web hosting providers will offer you one or more free add-on domains with the hosting account you purchase from them. Having this feature will allow you to add another domain to your hosting account and host it without paying additional fees. This is one way to inexpensively host several domains with only one hosting account.

Getting yourself a reseller hosting account is also a great way to host multiple websites on one account. Aside from this, you can also sell web hosting accounts to other webmasters. Your reseller account provides you a Control Panel which you can use to set-up individual accounts for every customer. If you decide to use it for personal use, you can set-up an individual control panel for every domain name that you have. Selling website hosting is also a great way to make money. That is the reason why a lot of online entrepreneurs already entered the web hosting business. A reseller account also comes with many great features like unlimited email accounts and subdomains. The features that you get will depend on the kind of reseller plan you sign on with.

There are also what we call the virtual private servers and dedicated servers. If you want more control over your hosting options and you need multiple domain support, a virtual server is what you can consider. It is called virtual server because the actual server is virtually located. If you want to run your e-commerce site, host multiple domains, set-up an intranet, and others, a Virtual Private Server is what you need.

The dedicated server on the other hand, is a single computer server which aims to support the needs of a network. A dedicated server hosting plan is normally more expensive than a virtual private server plan. Signing-up for a dedicated server hosting plan will allow you to fully customize or build your own dedicated server. You can also just choose and pay only for the features you need. One advantage of having your own dedicated server is it doesn’t put you on the risk of the server being congested because of other people’s bandwidth.

So before you sign-up for a web hosting account, it is important that you evaluate first your needs and then decide what kind of web hosting plan that fits for you.

Let me begin by saying that this is not a pitch for any web hosting company. Yes I own websites and yes they’re hosted in a decent place, but that is not my focus here. After reading all the articles and ads about how great this and that hosting company is, how much they offer and how cheap, I thought it was time to take the first step and launch a website.

Everybody seemed to say “Look for the most bandwidth and the most disk-space for the least money”. Did you know that in reality, those numbers are almost meaningless? Here are just a few of the real numbers you should know about. Let’s start with all the hype about Terabytes of disk space, and the reality: “Inodes” will determine exactly how much space you can really use.

Since a complete description of this term will fill several articles, in a nutshell, Inodes (UNIX/Linux) keep track of each and every file in your web-space. Every email, image, script, and file. Inodes are a “resource” and a resource you will find is strictly limited.

I have found the average Inode limit on shared hosting to be around 50,000. That means the total file limit on many shared hosting accounts, including all emails and images will be 50,000, how many emails are in your spam folder?

Host unlimited sites? Let’s take a closer look…

Scripts are the software that power many modern websites. Unlike “old school” static html pages, scripts “run” or operate on your server in order to generate the pages that create your website. Some such scripts are Wordpress, and B2 Evolution. PHP is one of many script programming languages.

Processes:

Every time a script executes on your server such as to serve a web page or send an email that is 1 process. My host starts warning at about 10 processes, which is close to the limit on many shared hosts. The process will usually only last a millisecond, but if you expect to have any real traffic, you will find that multiple independent sites will start pushing the processor limit. As an example, some simple and popular Wordpress plug-in’s will start to hog your resources in no time if left unchecked. And you can forget about SEO scripts, sitemap builders, P2P, Gaming Servers, etc.

Shared Hosting and the “root” directory:

These hosting plans will usually provide only one root directory for all of the domains and sites you plan to build. You will also be allowed one “primary domain”. All other domains will have to be “parked” or added on to the primary domain. Without getting too technical, let’s just say that some website scripts don’t “play” well with others. And many just don’t like being installed in sub-directories!

Multiple scripts generating multiple websites can cause major headaches to the unseasoned newbie, not to mention the server resources expended by poorly written or installed scripts trying to figure out where they are and how to run.

How’s your memory?

1 to 4 gigs on many modern servers, but that number is meaningless for you. Remember, you may be sharing that server with hundreds of other websites. Memory limits will become a problem when running a popular photo gallery, forum, or streaming audio/video.

10 Terabytes of bandwidth monthly? You will never get close. Unless you’re streaming video, most web hosts will not allow you to operate any kind of bandwidth intensive site on eight or ten dollars per month, period.

“My” SQL, not really…

Modern “dynamic” web sites such as Wordpress use a “database” to store and retrieve information, such as the text in this article. While your images and program files may be stored in your 1000 gig’ root directory, the data, text, settings, etc will be stored on a completely separate database server. This server has limits too, sometimes as little as 25 Megabytes. A large popular forum or directory with thousands of pages can burn through that in no time.

Database Connections:

Every time a visitor loads your web page, a connection is made to the database server. Many hosts will limit this to around 25-50 simultaneous connections. Since these connections last only milliseconds, enough to load the page, well designed scripts and websites can accommodate hundreds of visitors an day while staying below these limits. However, if you ever intend to build traffic in the thousands an hour range, or run several moderate traffic sites, to avoid the dreaded “Database Error- Unable to connect” page, be prepared to upgrade your account.

Email limits:

The fight against spam has led to some Draconian rules and limitations in sending email, including limits of as little as 25 emails sent an hour. Shared hosts are routinely “Blacklisted” for real or perceived “spamming” and this is usually due to only one of those many hundred of server “neighbors” engaging in illegal or unethical behavior. Through no fault of your own, you may find all of your emails being “bounced” with no clue as to why. Have a big list? Use an auto responder service!

Some other important questions to consider:

Is “Mod-Rewrite” Enabled? (Necessary for many scripts to function correctly)

Is “CPanel” provided?

Are regular server backups generated? How much to restore your site from a backup?

Is “Server to Server” transfer supported? (If you ever move to another server)

Allowed to edit .htaccess?

Allowed access to php.ini? (Though uncommon with shared packages)

Do the research before you dive in since these are terms you should become familiar with as an aspiring webmaster.

The bottom line is that it really does cost money to make money. If you plan to own and operate any kind of popular income generating website, plan for a dedicated or Virtual Private Server package to avoid the dreaded shared hosting banishment!

To your web success!

Many people now a days own a computer, have online access and have a website. More than likely its either a blog of some sort for personal or business reasons or it’s a business website. Websites, templates, and hosting packages can be very cheap as long as you research some sites and see what each one offers. Web hosting is by definition a person or company that hosts your website online. You can’t have a website unless you either A) are with a website company that hosts the sites for you or B) you buy your own hosting or C) you have your own servers. For the most part I believe the population is split down the middle when it comes to reason A and B.

Web hosting isn’t necessarily a hard thing to get yourself into, but people often think its harder than it really is for some strange reason. So, instead they opt in for the websites with the free web hosting but usually you still pay out of your own pocket for this service because the company your hosting it on has to then pay hosting fees! So hey, why not just do it yourself? It’s a good idea to search on Google for things like “Webhosting”, Web Hosting directory”, “Free Webhosting Directory”, or “PHP Hosting.”

This would also be a good time to put your searching skills into over drive. Do yourself a favor, before joining up with any site go to a few forums and do a search for the web hosting site in mind. Once you find the threads about these web hosting sites you will see what other members say about the service and options of the site. Try forums such as NamePros dot com and DigitalProForums dot com. Another great thing for you to do would be to visit a site called HostingReview dot com. This site offers the top 10 hosting sites at any given time and is constantly updated. See if you can find a few more sites like this as well, and compare which sites are on the list and which aren’t on the list.

You’re absolutely going to need web hosting (as said above) if you plan on having your own website online. It’s an absolute necessity and it really comes affordable, especially if you’re able to find a discount code online for the site. These are offered all over the Internet and are usable at most any web hosting web site!

Many website hosting companies are springing up that offer free website hosting. They may seem appealing, after all who doesn’t want something of value for free! The truth however is that many of these services don’t give you a free lunch.

* Free On The Cover - Not Free Within - The Terms
There are a lot of places that offer free, a trial or discount website hosting. When you find them, the biggest and most important aspect is to carefully look at the terms. Some of these places even offer free domains.

The offers may seem enticing, and the word free does make a lot of people interested. Most of the time these free website hosting services and packages will offer you limited service and extra charges may also be a part of the picture.

Always research when you see a company offer free website hosting. Look for existing websites hosted on those free services, and look at what they look like. Try to look at several websites, and consider if that is what you want.

* What Is Free?
Most of the time, these free web hosts will give you some space, and even a free domain; however there is more to it. Most of the companies that give free domains will give you the domain to use, but will keep the domains rights. Another tactic is that they will give the first year free, and subsequent years you have to pay a higher charge.

Though the free option can benefit you if you simply want to put up a hobby website that you will work on occasionally, it is generally no good as a long term big project. Again, going through the terms will give you an indication whether anything is an extra fee.

* Do They Offer Anything Of Value To You?
The problem with these free web hosts is that they may not provide all your needs, at least with the technical aspect. What’s more, they may also put adverts, and have hidden charges. For a business looking to make a web presence, the free options generally are not the best way to go.

When looking at your needs, it comes down to 2 aspects - the technical and the personal. They are both important, and will provide you with the answers, whether a free website hosting package meets your needs.

You may have found the best free website hosting package or service, but it is no good unless they have what you really need. The first point is to consider your needs. Do you need MySql databases? Do you need PHP and or CGI?

Again, this boils down to your needs. First consider how valuable your website is. A business may not find free website hosting services as any good, but for smaller sites, they generally offer an easy way to create a web site and get it online. This alone makes free website hosting a valuable thing, as you don’t need to hire a web designer.

These searchers are looking for a hosting company in a particular city, state, or country, but given the proper message they can often be convinced to try your hosting company. Afterall, given the nature of the web hosting industry, the actual location of your web hosts is not that important. The datacenter they use and the support team are really the 2 most important items.

The next question is how to target these searchers and turn them into visitors to your website. Like any good search engine advice.Content, Content, Conent. The thing to remember is that every page of good content will be found by search engines, not just your homepage. Add a page to your website that reviews the web hosting industry in a city, for example New York, and highlights several of its larger hosting companies. This, at first, might seem like a bad idea, but the page, over time, will be indexed by search engines and show up in searches related to web hosting in that city, New York Web Hosting, New York Web Hosts, etc. This new page will provide them information that they are looking for as well as provide you a potential customer that you otherwise would not have. The key is developing quality content. The internet is full of pages of no information or redundant information. But good unbiased reviews of the web hosting industry in New York or any city such as Atlanta, Chicago, etc. is useful information that potential hosting clients can use.

Some will argue that the reverse is true as well, that this new page is also a page that other potential customers can use to leave your website and signup with a competitor. This might occasionally be true, but for the most part it will attract more customers then it loses. This page does not have to be a page easily found by visitors to your homepage.

The Basics

Setting up a web hosting account for the first time can be confusing and frustrating for the novice. This article will guide you through the steps of setting up a new web hosting account for your website.

Setting up your web hosting account will depend upon many things, the first of which is:

Do you already have a website built and ready to be hosted?

If the answer to that question is yes, then your next set of questions should be:

How was your website designed? Did you design it yourself using Microsoft FrontPage, or did you use some other WYSIWYG website building software? Did a professional designer build your site for you? Did they use Microsoft FrontPage, or did they use some other WYSIWYG website building software? Did your designer use a database driven software, such as Cold Fusion? Maybe they coded your site using a text editor - you’ll need the answers to these questions.

If you have a FrontPage website, you’ll need a web host who supports FrontPage. If your site was developed with Cold Fusion, you’ll need a web host who supports Cold Fusion. This also applies to other design software not mentioned here. Check with your web designer and/or web design program’s documentation for further help with this.

Maybe you haven’t yet designed your website. Many web hosts offer online website building software that requires no programming or HTML knowledge. If this is your strategy, make sure your web host offers such software, and find out if there’s a cost for you to use it.

Finding The Right Web Host

Locating a web host that gives you the reliability you need, plus excellent customer service, and that offers all the features you’re going to need, can be challenging.

You can begin your search by asking business associates, friends and relatives who have websites of their own, who they use. Just as you would get a recommendation for a good restaurant, word of mouth can sometimes steer you in the right direction.

You can also check out the many web hosting directories on the web. These directories are set up to allow you to search using the features that you’re looking for in a web host. Keep in mind though, that many of the listings you see may also be paid listings that are pushed your way for obvious reasons.

Once you narrow down your search to a few potential web hosts, your next step will be to visit the many web hosting message boards and forums on the web. Perform a search on each of the potential web hosts that you have in mind - read through the posts and see what other people’s experiences have been with the hosts you have in mind. If you see too many negative comments or experiences by others, you might want to take a hint from that and rule out that particular hosting company.

Once you’ve narrowed down your search to a few web hosts, you should make contact with them and get answers to any questions you have. Since you’re a beginner at this, you might strongly consider using a web host that provides telephone support. A web host that provides only email support may not be able to fully answer questions that you have - this applies to sales questions as well as support questions.

When you make your inquires, keep track of which host responds to you the quickest. Which of these hosts answers your questions patiently and takes the time to go over details with you? Do they seem more interested in getting you to sign up, or do they address topics you have no concern about, beware of those danger signs.

Signing Up For Your Web Hosting Account

Most web hosts have multiple plans that you can choose from. The trick is to choose a web hosting plan that provides you the features you actually need, without choosing a plan that offers you features you don’t need, or may never use. This is probably the most difficult thing a novice will be faced with when choosing a web host. You’ll need to choose a plan that strikes an even balance between what you need right now and what you may need a month or two down the road. Your website might remain the same size as it is today, by next year; however, your site may grow quickly, requiring additional resources in a relatively short period of time.

Consult with your web designer and with your potential new web host about these issues. Ask you potential web host if it’s easy it is to upgrade your account if you need additional services. Ask if there are any additional charges if you upgrade your account.

The last thing you should do before signing up for a web hosting account is to read your web host’s AUP (Acceptable Use Policy), and/or their TOS (Terms Of Service), and/or their SLA (Service Level Agreement). Make certain that you understand and agree with your new web host’s policies, and that your website does not break any of your new web host’s rules and regulations. By not reviewing your new host’s contracts with you, you may find your website and email shut down without prior notice for breaking a rule you were not aware of, or you might end up paying for fees you didn’t know you were liable for.

The majority of web hosts require you to sign up for a hosting account by using your credit or debit card. Some hosts offer online check payment, as well as paper check payments. Many web hosts accept PayPal. You might want to ask if your host offers discounts for advance payment. Some hosts offer substantial discounts if you prepay a year in advance. I don’t recommend this until after you’ve had some time to experience your new host’s level of service and support.

Most importantly, don’t rush into signing up. Wait until you get all of your questions answered to your satisfaction.
